Elise was born and raised in Paris from Cambodian, Chinese and Indian heritage. After studying Business at the historic Paris-Sorbonne University, she began a successful entrepreneurial endeavor opening a flower studio in New York City’s West Village. While Elise was immersed in her love of floral design, a client thought she could apply those same design sensibilities to his home. To master her newfound craft she graduated from Parsons The New School for Design and the renowned, Fashion Institute of Technology.

She worked on several grand residential projects in New York, Paris, London and Africa, but when she couldn't find the perfect piece for a client she decided to make it herself. Soon after, Elise designed a capsule collection of furniture that was inspired by her childhood and travels to Africa. The collection received rave reviews at Solane and Elise has since become a noteworthy furniture designer featured in Cover Magazine, Luxe Magazine, House & Garden and World of Interiors.

While creating warm inviting spaces and exquisite furniture for her clients Elise realized the market lacked luxury products that were eco-conscious. In 2016, she embarked on designing her Luxury Home Collection by Elise Som. The collection is housed in London’s chic Design Centre Chelsea Harbour.

The ELISE SOM brand prides itself on being ethically responsible, cruelty free and eco-conscious while still upholding the luxury in their products. ELISE SOM is certified RSPO and the linens are GOTS certified, 100% organic cotton. Elise says, “There’s beauty in everything around us. I love nature, it’s the best designer, and I use what has been created to be inspired.” Elise’s work is rooted in nature, culture and traditions. They utilize handiwork of local artisans to uphold tradition and invest in the communities their products are made in.

At the core of Elise's design philosophy is her belief that “true luxury is to design with a responsible heart".
